Explore Mode helps you take your apps and insights even further

Explore Mode is located at the top of your app and enable through the toggle

Overview

Explore Mode is powered by Sigma and gives you the ability to make lightweight, local customizations to your apps.

It allows you to change the appearance of specific UI components, adjust the underlying calculations for charts or tables, and save these changes so they only apply within your organization’s version of the app.

Explore Mode gives you flexibility while preserving the consistency and reliability of the underlying app.

When to use Explore Mode

Use Explore Mode when you want to:

  • Adjust how a metric is displayed for your team

  • Add organization-specific nuance to an existing calculation

  • Tailor a dashboard to match your reporting conventions

  • Lightly customize an app without needing a full rebuild

It’s at the top right corner of every app. You can enable the toggle (which will turn blue) when activated.

  • Customize visuals

    Adjust formatting, labels, sorting, sizing, and presentation details for charts and tables.

  • Modify/Create new calculations

    Edit or add logic for a specific UI element (e.g., change how a KPI is aggregated or how a variance is calculated).

  • Preview changes safely

    Explore Mode works within a contained environment so you can experiment without altering the app for other customers.

  • Save changes for your workspace

    Customizations apply only to your Insight Cloud organization; they do not overwrite the published app.

  • Publishing changes for other users or organizations

  • Modifying dataset permissions or data models

Explore Mode is ideal for teams who want to tailor how insights are displayed without modifying the core app.
